MRA / MRIA
Matter Requiring Attention / Matter Requiring Immediate Attention
Formal supervisory findings examiners issue to direct an institution to correct a deficiency.
A Matter Requiring Attention (MRA) is a supervisory finding that an examiner expects an institution to address. A Matter Requiring Immediate Attention (MRIA) is more serious — it signals a deficiency severe enough to threaten safety and soundness or to reflect significant noncompliance, and it demands prompt corrective action.
Responding well means acknowledging the finding, drafting a remediation plan with owners and deadlines, assembling supporting evidence, and tracking progress through to closure. Institutions that keep a year-round remediation tracker — rather than scrambling at exam time — close findings faster and demonstrate a stronger compliance culture.
